Winnipeg-born, Paris-trained chef-caterer Dawn Adrienne Berney has been consumed with the art and exploration of food throughout her life. After completing a five-year "stage" in the techniques and traditions of classic French cuisine in cooking institutes (graduating from Le Cordon Bleu) and restaurants in Paris, she earned the position of Executive Chef at the American Cultural Consulate in the French capital. Returning to Canada in 1990, Dawn quickly established herself as a creative and socially active food professional. She has shared the kitchen with such top Toronto chefs as Chris Macdonald, Susur Lee, Didier Leroy, Michael Potters and Lorenzo Loseto. With cook-book maven Bonnie Stern, Dawn established "Taste of the Nation" (now Toronto Taste), a Second Harvest benefit for which she co-chaired and chaired for four years.
