Mill St. Brew Pub opened in January 2012 within the historic Thompson-Perkins & Bronson Pulp Mill. Built in 1842, the limestone building in Ottawa's oldest surviving mill that was once an integral part of the world's largest lumbering operations. Today, the beautifully restored site offers unique views of the Capital and attractive access to the Ottawa River. While the mill represents the origin's of Ottawa's industrial development, it also bore witness to Lebreton Flats' beer-making legacy, when breweries like Victoria, Bradings and Capital once dominated in the surrounding area. Explore the historic images on our walls to see how Ottawa's brewing, industry and politics intertwined over the last two centuries.

Mill St. Brew Pub connects Canada's brewing heritage with today's innovative craft beer scene. Our 14-tap lineup includes ever-popular brands like Tankhouse Ale, as well as new brews designed especially for Ottawa patrons, including Portage Ale, Ambre de la Chaudiere, and Valley Irish Red. Our revolving selection of seasonal brews and weekly casks will satisfy even the most adventuresome craft beer lover.

Our brewers and chefs collaborate to create exciting food and beer pairings. The menu incorporates Mill St. beers and regional ingredients into many of our recipes. Your server will be happy to help with beer pairing suggestions, or simply go "around the world" with a Mill St. Beer Flight – also be sure to ask about our special MBA ("Master of Beer Appreciation") program!

Enjoy the stunning view of the mill's "ruins", or dine overlooking the river from our glass enclosed Logger's Chute Atrium. Planning a function? The upstairs Brewmaster's Room is available for private events up to 120 people. And no brew put experience is complete without a tour conducted by one of our staff brewers! Finally, be sure to stop by our Retail store beet to take home with you, as well as a wide selection of Mill St. Merchandise.

Mill Street History

In December 2002, we laid claim to being the first commercial brewery to open in Toronto's east end in over a century. It all began in a 19th century Tank House within the defunct Gooderham & Worts Distillery Complex - now Toronto's exciting Distillery District.. Built in the late 1870's, the site is the best preserved example of Victorian industrial architecture in Canada, now home to cafes, boutiques, artisans and theatres. In 2006, our growing facility was relocated off site, and the original location converted into our flagship Brew Pub.

Since inception, our mission has been to consistently produce innovative craft beers. From dry-hopped casks to seasonal favourites, Mill Street's impressive range of styles is always expanding. While we're extremely proud of being names "Canadian Brewery of the Year" three years in a row at the Canadian Brewing Awards, we can't rest on our laurels – that's why Brew-master Joel Manning is constantly challenging himself to create new recipes that raise the bar for flavour, quality and enjoyment.
