The Monk's Kettle says...
The Monks Kettle is located five minutes walk from Royal York Subway. It is a local speakeasy that specializes in craft beer, where the uninitiated can get a crash course in craft beer, and the connoisseur can talk shop with our beer experts. The Bar is named in homage to the Belgium Trappist monks who were arguably the first craft brewers. They still practice this art with over seven monasteries actively brewing in Europe. The ‘Kettle’ is a reference... More to the vessel in which they brewed beer and resembles a cauldron.
The Monk’s Kettle is dedicated to promoting only the finest artisanal beers from Canada and around the world, with special interest in Trappist Monastery Ales from Europe. Our aim is to provide a balance of craft beer styles and profiles, both on draught and bottle. Our rotation plan will regularly introduce new beers and represent as many different beer styles as we can. We also offers a fine selection of wines and liquors, including aged bourbons, Single Malt Scotches, cognacs and a full bar for mixed drinks and cocktails.
Regarding food, our philosophy is simple, passionate cooking using only the best seasonal produce available from our local Ontario growers and suppliers. All menu items are cooked from scratch on the premises using local and organic ingredients were possible.
