Dive into Espresso

Memories of our childhood are like lasting pictures in our minds. As a child, Bruno Colozza was always at his mother's side at her hair salon, washing hair, cleaning up, and doing whatever was needed. Sadly, his mom Pierino passed when he was just 19 and the hair salon, The Maple Leaf Beauty Salon, is a memory. What Bruno has are the images of being with people and making them feel better when they leave your place.

The B Espresso Bar is one of the most unique coffee bar and restaurants in th
e city. After many trips to Italy, Bruno wanted to build a real Italian coffee bar. With two large tables, most people will never be lonely here but if you want to be on your own there are a few separate tables as well. When you go up to the counter, the staff ask your name and you instantly become part of the Colozza world.

Pizzas are made from scratch in their kitchens. The Calabrio (salami) and Pollo Chicken remind you why people love to eat in Italy. The panini here are the real thing and are made fresh everyday with heaps of ingredients on delicious crunchy loaves. The soup at B is a tasty mixture of fresh herbs, spices and vegetables to which you can add chicken, beef, or fish. Once you have a bowl you will say, "Yes, there is a real bowl of soup in this world." Bruno also makes his own special lunch boxes. Each day, there is a full lunch with salad and dessert in the box.

Coffee is always the main ingredient. The coffee at B Espresso Bar is exclusively the Illy brand. Illy was started in 1933 and sells 600 tons of coffee a year in 86 different countries. They combine nine different blends to make their coffee, and the quality has made it the choice of B Espresso Bar.

One espresso is a taste from the gods. Espresso is a dark, strong coffee made by forcing steam or hot water through finely ground Italian roast coffee, specifically blended for espresso.

Desserts are not forgotten here. We tried the chocolate zucchini cake, which made me one happy fellow. Biscotti, Italian brownies and muffins are just a few of the selections to tempt your sweet tooth.
Canada has an ongoing mad love affair with the coffee world. Hey, I am even producing a new TV show for Citytv called Marty and Avrum's Java Jive, where we will take viewers inside the world of coffee.

B Espresso Bar is a bit off the beaten track at 111 Queen St. E., but once you try this place it will keep you coming back.

Pierino, your love and caring lives on in Bruno. Not a day goes by that he does not stop and think of you. He is the son every mother would be proud of. It says it all on the wall in large print.

Thank you for bringing your life and culture to us Bruno. Pierino lives on in you, my friend.
