While growing up in the Netherlands, I have always dreamed of starting my own restaurant. I am now extremely proud to announce that I have finally realized this dream with Toronto's new and authentic bistro called Real Mo-Mo's (as I quickly gained the nickname Mo-Mo after coming to the city). I have made Toronto my home for almost 6 years now and thoroughly enjoy the St. Lawrence Market neighbourhood (where I live and work) with all its fresh products. Colborne street, where Real Mo-Mo's is located, is conveniently close to the Market, Berczy park, the financial district, public transit and parking. Ever since I started working full time in restaurants 15 years ago, all of my efforts have been directed towards the goal of starting my own restaurant. I've worked at many restaurants in different corners of the world; the Netherlands, Tenerife (near the shores of Africa, but part of Spain), Australia and New-Zealand, and of course Toronto. I did this to gain as much experience as I could with the intention of combining the best dishes and flavours of these worlds, eventually serving them in my own place. Therefore, the combination of these experiences creates an original menu that contains not only delicious but also authentic food: Australian Kangaroo meat, Dutch pancakes, papas arrugatas with mojo sauce from the Canary Islands, Canadian in-house cut fries and a lot more which I recommend you come check out yourself. Needless to say, Real Mo-Mo's uses only real products instead of liquid eggs from cartons or fake chocolate to establish these dishes. At Real Mo-Mo's I seek to differ from other restaurants by serving a variety of new and exotic dishes in a familiar environment. With an interior I designed myself to create an atmosphere resembling a living room more than a restaurant where staff will always serve our guests with a real smile. The hospitality in Real Mo-Mo's is not forced nor aimed towards profit but represents more than anything a lifestyle since we are most concerned with establishing a relationship with our clients. Therefore, I am certain that my guests will feel right at home with the additional luxury of delicious brunch, lunches and dinners being carefully prepared for them. Real Mo-Mo's and I look forward to seeing new as well as familiar faces within our bistro and we hope you will enjoy our food as much as we enjoy serving our guests.
